Fun fact i used to work hauling pure liquid oxygen to hospitals and such. that stuff would boil to a vapor immediately once it leaves the insulated tank and/or piping. As such you were NOT permitted to smoke when loading or unloading a trailer (or even with 50 feet or so of the thing), a rule that many drivers just ignored. Well, we had one guy who didnt replace the hose gasket before letting the oxygen loose into a customer tank. When you go to release product into a cuatomer tank, that hose is right at about chest/stomach level. Ol'boy had a ciggy lit and when he let the product out, it leaked out of the hose at a high pressure, instantly vaporizing and causing his cigarette to burn so hot it cinged his facial hair, and drop embers onto his shirt which also caught fire. Dude come out of it with 2nd degree burns all over his chest.

My friend and I built something similar for a science project back in 9th grade to show the effects of smoking on your lungs. We had a tube that held the cigarette and it went into a big plastic bottle filled with cotton balls as our “lungs”, and then we had a vacuum that we connected to the bottle to actually pull air through to “smoke” the cigarette. We did a few different “lungs” to show the difference between a light, medium, and heavy smoker. And we only got a B on the project..
