I’m often asked how I add the little rosy cheeks to my crocheted amigurumi toys. There are lots of different ways to do it, but here are my three current favorites. #amigurumitips

I use a powder blush and a q tip swab and go very lightly. Like you said, you can add more if you need to. I like your prismacolor color pencil technique. I'll try it on my next project.

Actually was so concernred with getting the eyes in the right place and sewing the appendages on in the right place, i never really thought about adding blush/rosy cheeks! TFS. I'll check that out. Not sure i had any with flesh color faces!

Do you have a more in depth video on this? Im interested to see how how other mediums work like fabric paint, acrylic paint, eyeliner, sharpie, marker. I know this video is just for blush but i was just thinking of regular face details like lashes, moles, freckles etc. ❤️

i use blush or watercolor chalk or oil based chalk. i use a few different kinds of brushes depending on how promint i want the cheeks. i just build up starting with a soft bristle brush first.

Thank you so much for sharing! I have been wondering how that was achieved.

I like to use my acrylic paints. I use a small stencil brush and I brush onto a paper towel until I get the depth of color I like. Like you said, I add slowly until I get what I want. I like this method because it can be laundered and not wash off.

I like chalk pastels personally. It’s easy to build colour, it’s relatively easy to erase/correct any mistakes. It works out quite cheaply per item because a couple of pastels is enough to last a lifetime (& the artist quality brands have a huge range of convenience colours. The ones I have are lightfast (so they don’t discolour over time), & I mist some fixative to set it in place when I’m happy with how it looks. I love seeing the different effects they all give

I like my Prisma pencils. I have used them after gluing Knick Knacks and I color it in to hide the break.

I use my actual blush and eyeshadow with an eyeshadow brush. I set the color with makeup setting spray. Hopefully this is long lasting and nontoxic

What brand yarn do you use? I’ve made animals but always use plushie yarn and I’m wanting to switch to this type of yarn to try out. Love this!!

They are adorable. I do not have the patience to make stuff like that. I wish I did. I made one doll. The poor girl still doesn’t have a face and I think I made it five years ago.

A gauche, thinned with water might be more permanent, but may still fade with washing. Same with acrylic paints.

I use a watercolour pencil. I moisten the tip with water and colour the cheeks lightly. If I overdo the colour, I found that I can take some off with a damp cotton bud. Best to start pale and build up the colour gradually!

Dear Elise, Thank you for sharing 😊 I used my blush, but I’ll definitely try my colouring pencils next time. Take care and stay safe and well. God’s blessings to you and your family 🙏🏽💜

I no longer use blush for years. What I have left was a lipstick which I haven’t used for years as well (no sense in putting on lipstick when we won’t be able to get into any building without face mask on from where I came from 💁). So I was like, crossing my fingers that the lipstick will work just fine as blush, while I’m putting it on my toys
