I like chalk pastels personally. It’s easy to build colour, it’s relatively easy to erase/correct any mistakes. It works out quite cheaply per item because a couple of pastels is enough to last a lifetime (& the artist quality brands have a huge range of convenience colours. The ones I have are lightfast (so they don’t discolour over time), & I mist some fixative to set it in place when I’m happy with how it looks.
I love seeing the different effects they all give

I no longer use blush for years. What I have left was a lipstick which I haven’t used for years as well (no sense in putting on lipstick when we won’t be able to get into any building without face mask on from where I came from 💁). So I was like, crossing my fingers that the lipstick will work just fine as blush, while I’m putting it on my toys

I use a powder blush and a q tip swab and go very lightly. Like you said, you can add more if you need to. I like your prismacolor color pencil technique. I'll try it on my next project.
