Wow, I’m moved by your words. You describe what I’ve felt before so perfectly-Thank you. My mom at 60, had a hole in her heart and had it fixed with a little umbrella like device. I’m thankful everyday she’s okay. So so so glad you have a healthy little boy. I hope you and your partner are able to find peace and rest in your hearts after these hard days.

I’m sorry if I haven’t been myself- messages left on read, emails piling up like snow in a blizzard. I never knew real stress until my son went into the O.R. Check-in calls every 90 minutes. Calls every 90 eternities- Relative time slowing, the longest now you’ll ever live. A 4mm hole in his heart. Just twice the thickness of a penny. That’s it. Something so small taking a team of hands and saws to fix. That hole was my mind for 18 months. It was all I thought about. It was every dream I had, every prayer off my lips. But the sun rolled over the horizon like it always does. The stars turned. And time swallowed the hardest day. Then a rough night. Then a better day- dawn on a battlefield where no one died. I’m sorry if I’ll never be myself again, but a more grateful version of this flawed pile of meat. Long live the Oracle!
