This little EQ hack will get your tracks sounding louder πŸ”Š

The low end of a mix is the thing that will stop you from getting something loud πŸ‘ˆπŸ»

This is because the low end has the most energy going into the limiter, meaning you can't push in as much as you like πŸŽ›οΈ

If you push too much, you'll start to lose low end bass which you don't want to do πŸ™…πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Here's what you do ⬇️

Get a FabFilter Pro-Q3 EQ, put a low cut on at about 27Hz & give it a little bump in the low end πŸ“ˆ

This will take away any of the rumble in frequencies below 27Hz and give it a little lift, similar to how vinyl does, so that we don't lose any of that low end

Taking that low end away will now allow you to push more into your limiter πŸ‘πŸ»

This is part of my FabFilter Pro-Q3 preset pack that you can get now from streaky.com πŸ”₯

Everything I have learned from streaky always works. I'm not going to stop listening to him now. 😊 Can't wait to try this when I get home. Thanks streaky πŸ™

Yes, I've learned if you ever use a strong notch, high pass or low pass it is best to raise to the side of what you've cut cause it will fill back in a bit of the spectrum you removed

Streaky, I thank God for you. Seriously. I get that you make money by doing this stuff and teaching people, but the value that I get out of it…. Is just second to none.

Why is this still everywhere. 1. When you cut the low end (even in ranges you or anyone else can’t hear) it will affect the sound above the filter due to the phase shift, a 24db/oct filter is extremely severe amounts of phase shift that will be audible in most case, this will make your low end sound weak and thin. 2. It does not decrease the peak level, it’s not very intuitive I know but because of that phase shift it will cause the peak level to increase, not decrease. 3. To avoid the last two problems you might want linear phase, if you do that then your introducing pre-ringing which is most audible at lower frequencies

With that steep curve and linear phase eq this will result in some pre-ringing

Cool, going to try this.

I thought vinyl didn't have a lot of bass because it causes skipping. So it is removed during the cutting stage, and the record players add the bass. That's why most vinyl albums, regardless of genre, have the same low-end EQ curve. I could be wrong, but I remember reading that in an acoustic properties book I have. I'll have to look it up.

Try using Native SSL Eq instead

When I cut low end on my tracks, it adds several DB to the meter because of phase shift so I usually just leave it.

Your pro QEQ pack does not translate to iPad. Logic pro does it?

Low end is always most difficult for me to achieve a nice balance. Often times when I check my mix in the car, the track sounds too boomy and flubby.

Streaky again wrong on the next advice.. love it. Your song will peak higher after this and your low end will sound worse on a good system. Thanks dude! Still wondering how you got your credits..

You’re saying Streaky put this after your limiter? So last in the chain? Steaky appreciate you 😊
