In old finnish beliefs, Väki was considered to be a form of energy that the world was built from (similar to Qi in eastern beliefs). Everything had Väki: matter and living beings.
Väki was what fueled the spells in the pagan witchcraft, and witches or wizards often sought certain ingredients with a particular Väki for their spells.
It was also thought that a powerful witch or a wizard could 'steal' the Väki from other living beings, weakening them and powering themselves. A person, a witch or a thing with lots of Väki was called 'Väkevä'.
The old sages thought that diseases were caused by unbalanced Väki's in the human body, and that to heal, balance needed to be restored.

Beginning in the earliest strata of Roman religion, natural objects bore a Numen. A place was the embodiment of the Numen Loci.
The anthropomorphic Roman Gods tend to be cognates of Greek Gods. The correspondence isn't perfect, so I think some of these this came from proto-Indo-European religion, and only later was the transmitted directly from Greece to Rome.
The divergence between Greek and Roman religion may have occurred around the 12th century b.c.e when Minoan civilization collapsed, and the Sea People's swarmed over the more civilized areas.

Väkiviina = rectified spirit, i.e. the strongest liquor you can produce by means of distillation, around 96-96.5 ABV.
