You can also still single load even the rifles with that tyoe of bolt, as long as you place the round in the magazine instead of just laying it on top of the extractor. If you press it down like youre goung to fully load, theres literally no difference in that and firing the last round out of the mag.

Even with the controlled feed 1903 or 03A3, there is a magazine cutoff. With that feature engaged, the user must load single rounds that snap over the extractor. I’m betting it won’t hurt it much if it was designed that way.

The Marine Corps single loaded during marksmanship training for the entire time the rifle was in service. Same with the M-14, M-16, and M-4 carbine. They also dry fire them all (snapping in).

The Civilian Marksmanship Program would not mandate single loading during their matches (for decades) if this procedure damaged the extractor.
