I love the slatted door design. This is how I set ours up last year. My only problem is that there is a slight wiggle in the corner posts I set in the ground (I didn't want concrete in place, so it's just sitting in the soil), which makes the slats fall out of place sometimes. It's still not a big deal, and very easy to access the compost for turning or taking to the garden.

Could you have also used the original wire screens and separated into smaller frames on the track?

Have you thought about trying the Japanese method of wood burning to preserve the wood? Apparently the wood can last up to 100 years! PS our bins (until we removed them because of rats) were your new design and we never needed the handles.
