Having delivered propane, this type of scenario is covered in training.
Are you getting a situation? You move away with the truck if at all possible and move down to a safe distance, but you don’t abandon the scene and run.
Individual tanks have blow off valves so if they expand from heat, it just becomes a singular jet, but when they’re in mass like that, and there’s so many fires, they boil off so quickly the blow off valve is insufficient to drain the tank and they begin to blow apart .
It’s a very nasty and dangerous scene and the safest thing to do is if you can deal with WATER from a safe distance, go ahead and do that if not you pull back and let the fire burn itself out and then come in.

"There was no accident so the driver was not required to stay at the scene so no criminal charges." Seriously? A bunch of burning explosive containers just dumped in the middle of a busy roadway and abandoned isn't risking the lives of other drivers?
