“when there’s too many changes arrangement wise, it’s jarring for the listener”*the dillinger escape plan*

This is more for pop sector stuff I think. This type of thing while cool in small doses can drive a tech death / prog fan up a wall and lose interest.

Umm, bands like vildhjarta has a lot of time changes but they sounds incredible. I don't thnik we should limit our music writing with basically anything. Of course it's easier to write simpler music like lthis, but it could be boring for some people. Don't get me wrong, I do understand the fact that most people likes simpler music like this, and this guy knows how to sell them.

Yeah but it’s also worth considering that in genres like hardcore, death metal, slam etc the listener is on the constant prowl for the next big breakdown, half step, or double time

lol iq level of the people I knew in high school saying “let’s sound like The Rolling Stones” sticking in 4/4. How’d that play out for them? Never did a music project, projected their demons at me and coped because I had something to show and made music myself.

good notes for a simple basic pop song. this is not good advice for complex music.

Sounds like a skill issue. Trying to follow complex patterns and subdivisions is part of the fun. As long as the music flows nicely and sounds engaging then it's fine. People need to stop dumbing down their creativity for mouth breathers, it's honestly what is killing modern music.

"when you have too many changes, it's jarring" sure and when every song repeats itself, and even uses samey rhythmic patterns it's boring as well. I'd rwther have variety.
