There are a LOT of changes from comic to '97. Like just about any changes it is a mixed bag and not for everyone. (e.g.: the changes to Dune pt II mostly outraged me)
I won't comment on more on anything other than the pacing here though. OP is right. Things are moving at rocket speed and I think there is soo much missed opportunity to tell story and get people involved in the characters. It leaves me thinking the pacing (the entire show really) is meant for fans and to get the X-men to some place a movie wants them to be for integration in to the MCU.

This is not what happened. In the comics, Scott indeed abandons Madelyn and Nathan the second he finds out Jean is alive, and Madelyn doesnât even find out what happened, let alone why Scott left, until months later. In the episode, it clearly changes this, showing that Scott still cares for Nathan and fights both Madelyn and Sinister to get him back. The only part where he âwalks outâ is because Madelyn states a cure for the virus might exist in the future, and Scott explicitly states that he wonât allow his son to be sent away and that he will not abandon him as he himself was. When the reality of the situation is made clear, that Nathan must go with Bishop or he will die, Scott says âhe canât be partâ of the decision, and walks *out of the room*. Madelyn then chooses to leave, despite Jean pleading with her to stay. Scott and Jean do not get back together. There is one shot of them alone together, in two distant parts of the same room, look at eachother with a sense of exasperation. You clearly didnât watch the episode, or just talking out of your ass because you need to seek attention on the internet.
