There are bigger ..
These are Dominican avocados. I think they're equally lacking in taste & flavor as you do. There are varieties in the island of Kauai (locally known as windshield crushers) which remind me of what I tasted in Africa.
Several countries in Africa especially Nigeria have volleyball sized avocados which I've tasted. They are much sweeter than the Californian Hass variety, a bit more earthy b/c of it's rich mineral content and more buttery & by far better tasting!! It's the best tasting avocado I've ever had.
