Do this for snappier drums!

This mastering trick is a game changer if youā€™ve got a flat track or you donā€™t have the stems for a track youā€™re working on.

1. First, grab a gain plugin and add 2dB.

2. Then, automate the gain over the track so it comes on/off on a 1/4 note or an 1/8 note.

What youā€™re doing is essentially moving the output gain up and down.
If +2dB is too extreme then adjust it to taste.

maybe if your drum hits are locked onto a grid like a robot 1/4 1/8 notes. but a transient designer is far more effective when working with a groove like most songs do.

I use cubase chopper for this. Easy to dial in bounce on hats and stuff.

Or just use the midi fx LFO to do the automation for you

Even better make every kick or snare at different volume like a real drummer would play or like old analog machines worked.

But doesnā€™t react it inna bad way with the limiter and compressors on the bud and masterchannel when u automate 0ver 0 db ? Or other question how does it react to the clipper, when you automate it in this way ? Because of oversaturation or stuff like that ?
