Diet breaks vs refeeds! Which is better?

For the purpose of this video a “refeed” is defined as 1-2 days of eating at maintenance or a surplus while in a fat loss phase.

A “diet break” is a longer period of eating at maintenance (1-2 weeks+) while in a fat loss phase.

Both are valid and can have benefits but I definitely prefer using one over the other for my clients.

i think its time. I started a weightloss journey a bit ago and stuck with it for a looong time and had a few refeeds. Went from 270 to 142 with a goal weight of 140. (Male 25, 5’8) Ive been struggling recently and having “cheat days” and then “cheat meals” every other week or even every week. It spiraled to binge eating then return to my 1600 cal deficit then as i approached my original weight after working off the water weight, it started again with the binging. Its terrible. So ive decided to take a diet break and eat at maintenance of 2,400 (i hope, first time figuring out maintenance) and see if it helps control these binge eating cycles.

Hey Marisa :), great Videos always! What do you think about keto (ketosis) vs low carbs (100-150 carbs maybe, so no ketosis) ?

What if my maintenance calories is very little to begin with?? Im very petite 5’2 and my BMR1200 cal , my maintenance is at 1500-1600 cal which is not much at all. Although I have not been dieting for long, I plateaued when increased as little as 50 cal every week
