Eh... What you are saying and what you are playing are two different things.
The pattern you ended up playing is:
Snare, Tom 1, Floor, HH, Snare, Bass
Snare, Tom 1, Floor, HH, Snare, Bass

Groupings of five notes (like what you said you were playing) do lead to some mind bending stuff - but those are more common in genres that intentionally explore this complexity, think jazz, fusion, prog metal, or hip hop fusion (they loooove quintuplets!)
That's because groups of five don't line up with anything, so you end up playing really weird accents over the beat... Its cool, but you gotta know how to apply it.
Search up Richard Spaven for a fantastically tasteful application of these odd groupings, and a really cool drummer in general.
What you have here is a pretty bog standard 3+3+2 (or 6 6 4) rhythm (look up tresillo rhythm) orchestrated in a linear fashion (basically playing one drum after the other).
