Let me explain: Oliver Tree made Jerk 2 years ago. Southstar sampled it for his banger. Robin Schulz and Oliver Tree share the same label so Robin just straight copied Southstar and released his "remix" and even called it the same as Southstar. Very sad to see it happen from one of my favourite electronic artists...

You left out some crucial info.
After the song went viral, Atlantic records reached out to Southstar. He gave up all the rights of the song and Oliver tree had released the same fricking song 2 days later.
But, it’s not over yet.
When Southstar released the “sped up version” guess what? Oliver Tree had released it too.
But doesn’t really matter Bcs Atlantic and Tree will get every cent after both versions….

So here's the problem with the theory that he stole it: He had no reason to. Literally, he was getting 100% of the revenue from the Southstar remix anyway. If anything, this is just fabricated drama to promote Southstar since he would not have gotten as much attention if it weren't for this "controversy".

Obviously im just speculating, but I think this guy sold the production without reading the full contract not expecting the song to blow up like it did. When the song then took off and became huge, he regretted his decision and started this narrative.
It seems very unlikely to me that big players in the music industry would take such a risk by straight up stealing a song, and from the perspective of Oliver Tree there would be literally no incentive to credit or defend Schulz, since the song itself remains the same; he might as well credit the original producer.
I'm afraid that what has happened is that the producer signed all his credits away when selling the production without him fully realising this. As a producer myself, I really do feel for him, and it must be terrible to sign away a hit like that and someone else taking credit for it.
That being said, if it really is stolen, I hope he is able to prove it and get what is his.

To make it clear: Southstar released his first and original version from miss you back in June 2022. After it blew up Robin Schulz completely copie pasted it he bought nothing from southstar or anything like that. He just stole the hole song (even the last tile is the same. It’s a absolute shame and disgusting behavior from Robin Schulz and Oliver tree. Southstar dropped a hole explanation to this situation on his Instagramm.

READ BEFORE YOU COMMENT “OLIVER MADE JERK SO IT WASNT STOLEN!” or really anything else: Alright for some reason during the process of making this video my brain wasn’t working correctly and more info has come out since this upload. Here’s a FAQ of common complaints I get on this video. “Well Jerk is Oliver Tree’s song, so how is it stolen?” I forgot to put this in the script. We know Miss You is a remix of Jerk. southstar was legally allowed to make Miss You. He got permission from Oliver's label, and made something completely new out of the Jerk vocals. This video discusses whether or not Robin Schulz stole the song from southstar. Southstar was completely in his right to sample and remix a song. Robin Schulz is not in the right IF he actually stole it. “This is clickbait and you should be ashamed for uploading it!” I guess? Title asks a question, but the video doesn’t give a straightforward answer. It gives the viewer information and they can form their own opinions on the topic since this video is supposed to be unbiased. But maybe it isn’t. I wouldn’t know since I made the video and it’ll be a conflict of interest if I say otherwise. But if you do believe it to be clickbait, I do apologize. “Why didn’t you cover [remix rights, copyright law, fair use, etc.]?” Shorts are a minute long and I’m not a lawyer. I try to be as informative as possible in the short timespans I’m provided. This obviously involves some corner cutting and “loss of integrity.” This video is not supposed to be an in-depth legal analysis on this topic either. It is just presenting (hopefully) unbiased information. “IDC this song is a banger!” Ok. “Southstar and Robin Schulz just used the same sample!” Doubt it because if it was sampled nobody has found the original sample yet.
