Diane the thing is 20 years ago all this food you’re trying was good!
What the food industry in general has done is make things more and more cheaply, stopped using real ingredients for processed, and gradually made it less a less appealing. A lot of people have adjusted because it’s happened so slowly. With somebody like you, who is only trying it for the first or second time, it tastes like what it is. A bunch of chemicals in a pretty package.

Hostess Corp closed down a few years back. A few years later it was bought and restarted; the restart products were/are HORRIBLE! Inedible. And in modern times family owned companies, such as bakeries, have also gone out of business. There hasn’t been an actual “American” bakery in this century. Sad, actually

I don't know who made them, but does anyone remember Banana Flips and Cherry Flips? They looked kinda like a long taco, and were made of sponge cake with a flavored cream filling. They were fantastic!

It’s a chocolate twinkie, so technically the yellow one was your first original style twinkie. It’s all good if you liked them.
