People tend to forget that gagging is a natural reflex our body does when it either needs air because there is blockage, disgusting food/too much food or foul odor/smell making you gag so you know to get away from whatever is causing you body to react that way.
Edit: and since that stuff hardens really fast it would be quite dangerous if it your body didn’t react the way it should.
