Sun poisoning/allergies is not as uncommon as many people think. It may be worth looking up symptoms and talking to your doctor to see if there is more to sun sensitivity than you realize.

I've started to tend towards the spf clothing. I may look horrendously unfashionable and like a good breeze could send me aloft with my giant sun hat but that's better than rolling the skin cancer dice or having to reapply sunscreen every 30 minutes.

Blonde and extremely fair skinned I’ve been told by a French speaking friend that I looked “bronzée comme une aspirine” which translates to “tanned like an aspirin”.
Sunblock, loosely fitting cotton clothes with long sleeves, a hat and the strongest sunblock I can find are my Summer companions. The cotton absorbs sweat and the evaporation from clothing-to-air keep me cool. The long sleeves/skirt/palazzo pants provide shade to whatever body parts aren’t shaded by the hat. Combined right the overall look is kind of a bohemian almost chic vibe. Nothing is constricting, air flows surprisingly freely.
I learned that way of dressing by living in hot, humid tropical countries where airconditioning wasn’t always available, tanning was something women fear and heat can be, quite literally, lethal.

As someone with lupus(which sunlight and heat can trigger a flare) who lives in Texas I get seasonal depression in the summer cause I can barely leave my house…. So many people have been like just put on a hat! Or just use this sunscreen or wear long sleeves(in 102 weather) thanks but I’ll stick to vampirism till I can afford to move cause I’ve tried it all and nothing works.

I worked an outside job one summer and it became a whole gag with my coworkers about how often I put sunscreen on. But they don't know what happens to me if I spend 15 minutes in the sun unprotected...
I never did get a sunburn once that entire summer. I'm still impressed with myself for that.

Same. I once wore a maxi skirt, long sleeve shirt WITH hat AND an umbrella PLUS SPF 100 to a fair in Phoenix in February! It was 85. I STILL turned pink!

When I was visiting my family in Finland (I live in Sweden), I decided to spend 20 mins in the sun...without sunscreen... I was as red as a tomato when I went inside. The nordic countries arent safe for me without sunscreen.
Ive also been to Aruba which is on the equator...I had to have spf 100 sunscreen and still got sunburnt
