45 here. Been going to the gym almost a year on and off. The past 6 months were awful with pain in ankle, knees, hips, lower back, upper back and bad rotator cuffs. I've been doing a mix of weight lifting, Calisthenics and Yoga. And I gotta say, Yoga is king to gain flexibility and has improved my static holds while doing calisthenics and has reduced my rotator cuff pain while weight lifting. Helping me have a much better mind-muscle connection. Thank you so much for sharing your passion with great recommendations for the benefit of all. ❤Namaste❤ 😊

I have been doing rehab on bodies for over 30 years. This is very good advice. Also remember to stretch the calves. Foot massages are highly recommended as well.

The plantar fascia isn’t exactly muscles in the foot, but the thick, connective fascia in the foot. And those stretches l, along with some calf stretches, should help them out! Great video 👍

Having had plantar fasciatis resulting from an injury, I saw both a podiatrist and a physical therapist. The advice they both give is astoundingly different. The podiatrist will tell you to wear orthotics, thick shoes that don't flex, and never to go barefoot. The PT taught me stretching techniques to use while barefoot, educated me on how and when to ice safely but to avoid icing entirely if I cannot do it within those guidelines, and taught me the importance of stretching adjoining and supporting muscles to strengthen the foot, ankle, and calf. My PF is cured now and I am almost always barefoot.

Great advice. But if needed for older persons, should you show poses for older people.

And if you don’t feel comfortable going fully bear foot, at least don’t have them in fully closed, narrow toe box shoes. I wear loose slides or slippers most of the time at home. I used to have to wear high heels at work for several years in my early 20’s and my feet were in such bad shape. When I had my kids I became a stay at home mom. I started wearing flat open shoes 98% of the time. It’s been 10 years, and my feet are in so much better shape. I can now stretch and separate all of my toes without even trying, and don’t have pain in my feet, legs, and back like I used to. Listen to this lady’s advice, it really does help so so much!

Using yoga balls to help break up fascia before you begin your stretching is phenomenal.

Wow. I can see you are a yoga master as you took this feedback so well!!! Brava to you!!! I think when an older person is looking for yoga to help them they would immediately skip this video. That’s too bad. You seem to know your stuff.

I recently added walking on a 1.5" diameter rope to help with foot strength along with most of these stretches. Its worked wonders so far.
