Atherton is SO bizarre because it’s this giant gated neighborhood in the middle of just normal Bay Area neighborhoods. Like there’s some very not nice parts of the bay right by them but they’re walled off completely from all of it.

I'm surprised short hills didn't make the list, being the richest zip code in the US. it's interesting from a planning perspective too because the only commercial permitted is green houses and corner stores. it'd be interesting to see zip codes ranked by highest property tax

I grew up right next door to Atherton. For a fun laugh, look up their police blotter. There are some real gems like "suspicious person reported in back yard. Upon investigation, person was the gardener."
