I do remember playing through Quartz a looooooong time ago, I think it was in middle school when I was going on a hack bender trying to see what quality existed out there. Crazy how this was possible in 2006.

Bro as cursed as this game is, I still gotta give it to the creators bcs I remember being 9 when I saw it for the first time at the back of a store in my city. While it was very obviously a fake game it was interesting. Other hack roms I vividly remember alongside it were Naranja and Chaos Black. If you know about these then you're truly an OG fan. :)

Pokémon Quartz was goated yall new age players gotta put some respect on this game. We didn’t have infinite fusion, insurgence or any of these major fan games but god damn it we had Quartz Reign of Destiny and so many others.

Pokémon Quartz was my first rom hack with fakemon!
My second being Pokémon Topaz, where you played as a team rocket grunt, if I remember correctly!
I played both of these back in 2011-2013 as I just moved countries and was learning English, absolutely great memories!
I think Pokémon Crono was my first rom hack though, which was awesome but sadly not continued :(

I remember when I went down to Mexico and I got my mom to buy this off this, looking back very sketchy game stand, and it would always crash and delete the save whenever the map was loaded, so no fly, no pokedex locations, and then it could never get past like the 4th badge. Good times

I remember reading Zorak's LP of Pokemon Quartz long ago.

Ah, Pokemon Quartz, this one's qn absolute classic. It's definitely a "so bad it's good" experience. The Fakemon designs are awful and are all just reskins of the existing Hoenn dex. The writing is terrible and tries to be edgy and raunchy in the most uncomfortable and cringeworthy ways all while being poorly translated. Yet you just want to keep playing it to see what abominations you'll encounter and to see more of the unhinged dialog. If you want to die inside over and over I reccomend picking the female trainer because like half of the plot relevant male characters hit on you at some point and it's so uncomfortable.

Fun fact; this hack was frequently found loaded onto a gba cart and sold as "pokemon emerald" at markets full of counterfeit goods in common european holiday destinations such as mallorca, the canaries, tunisia and turkey. My best friend as a kid came back with it one year and our 9 year old selves were shocked by all the cursing, lol
