I think a master of one and a jack of all trades are both importantly intertwined. A 'jack of all trades' may see how a bunch of things are connected and even adapt to learn if the occasion calls for it, while a' master of one' can help provide information and expertise at levels a 'jack of all trades' might not understand o even be able to reach. Both are important, neither are superior. But together, I believe they can do some amazing stuff

«جاك في جميع المهن، خبير في لا شيء» (بالإنجليزية: Jack of all trades, master of none) هو مصطلح إنجليزي يستخدم للإشارة إلى شخص انخرط في العديد من المهارات بدلاً من اكتساب الخبرة من خلال التركيز على واحدة، وفي النهاية لا يعتبر بارز في أي مجال منهم، كلمة جاك Jack تعني في في بعض القواميس الإنجليزية (الرجل العادي) وهو مصطلح كان شائع في القرن السادس عشر والسابع عشر.
غالبًا من باب الاختصار يتم استخدام فقط مصطلح «جاك لجميع المهن jack of all trades» من باب مجاملة شخص جيد في إصلاح الأمور وعلاجها ولديه معرفة واسعة جيدة جدًا، ويكونون على درجة أتقان شاملة ومتكاملة، مثل هذا الفرد الذي يعرف ما يكفي من العديد من المهن والمهارات المكتسبة ليكون قادرًا على الجمع بين تخصصات الفرد بطريقة عملية. هذا الشخص يعد اختصاصي عام وليس متخصص.
على جانب أخر أحياناً ما يتم استخدام المصطلح بالشق الثاني من باب التهكم أو التقليل من شخص ما بأعتباره شخص لا يجيد أي شيء منهم.
أقرب مقابل عربي لهذا المصطلح هو المثل المشهور «صاحب الصنائع السبع لا يتقن أياً منها» ولكن هذه المثل يستخدم من باب التهكم والسخرية على الشخص المشتت الذي يتعلم كل شيء ولكنه لا يتمتع بأي خبرة في أي مجال.[1]

I honestly don't think the quote is derogatory even without the additional line. In a vast majority of adverse situations it's almost always better to have a wide body of knowledge than to be limited to one sole area of expertise... I like the additional line, but I have to point out the fact that the first known documentation of the saying far and away predates the so called "original version" that has no known reference before the 1900's. So basically someone added to it at a far later date to clear up any misguided confusion. By "someone" I mean a forward thinking hero.

See I never saw it as derogitory because I would much rather be decent at 4 or 5 different things than be great at 1 thing. Im a mechanic as of now but im decent in carpentry, landscaping, physics and electrical work. Carpenty and electrical helps in ways you wouldnt think in mechanics. Ive sometimes fabbed up parts/brackets and other things for a car that my coworkers were really confused by. Soon as I showed them how it worked theyd be dumbfounded like "how the hell did we never think of that?" Maybe this is just my ADHD ass but I honestly believe being a jack of all trades is, in some ways, a good thing
