Also cut them unevenly so that one is longer than the other, this makes it easier to walk

I wouldn't chop them down that far but if you leave one leg a little longer than the other side it makes walking it a bit easier too. I honestly just leave the legs long most of the time but I have trimmed them a bit and always leave one side a little longer. Sometimes if you're walking it and stop it on a nice looking spot I'll just let it sit and give it the smallest little twitch I can, then wait 10 seconds and do it again. Really, really small twitch, you can do that a few times. I call them micro twitches but this works with poppers too. Sometimes there's a fish there and this will get it to bite if it won't go for a faster or bigger action. I've fished some really clear waters and saw the fish change their minds after just letting the bait sit there and barely move for almost a minute.

Trim one side a bit shorter then the other side and then grab some pliers and bend out the hooks just a tad bit 🔥

Why do you have to buy a plastic luer ??? I really can't see the fun in doing this really. Makeing your own luers is soooo much fun and satisfying.
