As has been mentioned here, Greek as far as I know does not have a 'ch' sound. The Greek letter 'χ' (Chi) is pronounced as a hard 'c' in English and is in the same location on Greek keyboards as 'c' is on English ones. The good example is Christ, which is ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ but there is no "ch" sound.

I'm not sure why sometimes the native names are kept to distinguish historic periods of some nations. Most of the times there are easily translatable, diatochi literally means successors.
