In this #shorts video I pour molten silver into a seashell. I have been pouring silver for a long time, but I have never tried this before and it turned out better than I expected. This was dangerous and I took all of the proper silver pouring safety measures.

You guys are only encouraging him. Next episode it will be "watch me pour silver into a Matchbox car". And Matchbox cars are the gateway molds. He wont be able to stop....

It's beautiful! My first thought was, "Look at the Perfection, God made that shell, so delicate and Perfect!" Your silver shows the beauty that's on the inside. Well done!!

Certainly a perk for the silver stackers who live on the coast!

Could you first make a mold with the shell and then pour the silver into the mold? Then you could make multiples?✌🏼

TIP: drill a tiny hole in the point of the shell to allow the air out as you pour, it will leave a cleaner impression, but with a small sprue that can be polished down

You could market that as unicorn silver and never work another day in your life!

It turned out beautifully. I was worried about you pouring the hot metal into a cold shell causing it to shatter. I'm so gratified that didn't happen. Thank you for sharing thus. It's beautiful.

Btw silver melts at like 600-800 degrees. And shells will melt/shatter at like 900 degree But saying "two thousand degrees" sounds cooler I guess.

Put your shell into casting sand or investment so it won't fall apart. Do your pour in one fluid motion. Definitely heat up the shell once it's in the investment and before you pour your metal to insure there is no moisture within. If there's any moisture left in the shell, it has a good chance of exploding from the sudden steam. !!ALWAYS PREHEAT YOUR MOLD BEFORE YOU POUR!!

I was a foundry worker and we used a shell casting material by dipping and drying till the shell was thick enough to melt wax out and pour metal in. After it cooled we hit the pieces off with a hammer to get parts out to be cutoff.

Hey SD, what are you going to do with the silver shell pour? Pretty darn cool. I'll hit you up tonight about it too. :_47th: :_rigged: :_wow: Thanks brother.

Fill the sand around the shell completely, then heat it to 450 in the oven to get rid of excess moisture and to preheat the shell. Doing this will allow the silver to flow thru easier and also eliminate air pockets, which in turn will produce a much cleaner casting with reduced risk of explosion
