As someone who started with revolvers, but wasn't proficient, I shot single action mostly and didn't really improve my skills. Everyone recommended a glock 19, in those days, and I shot it pretty poorly. Just something about the way the trigger breaks would jolt the sights. I'm better now but wish i would have just got a Beretta 92, but I was turned off by the DA/SA trigger. Now I love the 92 trigger and the advantages of DA/SA. M9A4 will be my next gun.

My dad was a LEO & weapons instructor for my state, his view on the Glock was that with the 12lb trigger they used, it was going to be as safe as their previous revolver's double action trigger. Off the job he carried a concealed snub nose .38 Special S&W loaded with +P semiwadcutters at all times.

I always tell people they should find a store with a range that rents out guns, try a bunch out, see what feels the most comfortable. Lots of people whose opinions I trust love the P320, but it feels just awful in my own hands. I also hate Glocks with finger grooves, but Glocks without finger grooves feel great. Ultimately the best handgun is whatever you personally shoot well.

Posting this because YouTube is on their censoring shit constantly if you have any flagged words in the comment. these comments aren't even held for review so i can manually approve them they just straight up disappear. " @dyllIIIlan 3 minutes ago Besides necessity in high crime areas, I disagree about carrying a firearm on your person with a round chambered, as a civilian. There is practically no circumstance where pulling your gun out and immediately firing vs racking would save your life, because you're already likely taking cover from a threat. As a cop or someone in a bad area, that's different. Sometimes that second does matter. But as a civilian it's not worth the liability. You could trip and fall on it weird, get in a car accident with it stowed, or if open carry just have it taken off your person already chambered ready to shoot you. Just good for thought tho. I've grown up with guns, but definitely not an expert. You should do a video about your views on the matter "

The fact you have your finger on the trigger half the time drives me nuts

Youre definitely correct. Im a very new shooter and i am defintiely not comfortable with a round in the chamber even with a safety let alone a gun without one. Hopefully eventually i will be. I love guns but i feel very uncomfortable and nervous handling them im hoping i can train that away a little bit cause its to the point where its detrimental.

I had a Ruger P345 .45 cal. for my first handgun and it was GREAT! Manual ambidextrous safety, easy to operate amd clean, handled great for a .45, low price (only paid like $300 back in 2001). I can't recommend it enough! 😎👌

Then there are 99+% of revolvers.

Already a big fan, but this is great advice. The 92 is a great gun for new shooters for many reasons. I’ve heard so many people buy their first handgun and it’s a micro compact. Then they go to the range and hate it and that’s the end. The H&k P30 and if you’ve really got that special sauce a USP compact are other good options that have optional safeties. You da man🎉

Hands down you are the best firearms channel on the platform. Informative and educational as well as down to earth and compassionate from what i can see.

A person that doesn't carry a round in the chamber is a dead man in a gun fight. You will most likely not have time to jack a round in the pistol and especially if you're like most new shooters and don't train enough if any at all. The 92 has way too long a trigger for some people. My ex wife couldn't reach it in double action because it was such a long trigger and it made her hold the butt sideways to reach the trigger. I think it's a great gun for most people, but I would recommend a revolver if you're not going to carry a round in the chamber because you can pull the trigger and it will index the cylinder and load a round to fire. You'll just have one less round. I would always recommend you keep a round in the chamber. Just my personal opinion.

My first handgun i got is a tisas px-9 gen 3 duty. Its pretty nice and has a trigger safety. Main thing to remember even as a new gunowner is that your finger is the most important safety

Took me 6 months roughly to get comfortable with my G-22 (started carrying in 2012). Now I have a hellcat that is only unchambered when I do dry fire stuff.

Taurus g2c is what i recommend for newbies, great gun n it even has this thing that sticks up on top of the slide to let u kno its one in the chamber, ive had two of the g2c's chambered in 9mm n one that was .40 cal, never had any jams or issue's out of them
