I love the idea of vocational schools. One thing a lot of school districts need to do to not paint these vocational schools as the bad kids schools. The place that you send troubled or failing students

I feel like this describes the normal system in the Netherlands, unless im wrong. In primary school they basically figure out how quickly people learn things and depending on how well that goes people essentially get a highschool education that matches their level. So people can efficiently move forward to their profession lives. The slower people learn the more they benefit from education that focuses on professional skills. The only downside is that if you're a slower learner you'll have almost no chance of ever getting into university since the jump from their highschool education to university is way too big.

Anyone know of a remote vocational school that teaches coding to high school students?

I doubt vocational curriculum as part of the regular high school experience will catch on. The reason being is because Vocational education is already available in the form of pay as you go trade schools. I have attended trade school (vocational schools). Trade schools were part of the high school and Adult education academic construct of Western New York educational system going back as far as 1970. However, about 1980 or so Vocational Schools in WNY were taken out of the public education system and you paid to go to the schools just like you pay to go to college. My point is once someone figures out how to make money on education investors swam in and obliterate the public education side of vocational training. The dollar is king.. I’m not saying pay-as-you-go vocational education isn’t a good thing I’m saying public education doesn’t have the resources to compete with commercialized education. The first rule of business is to take care of your customers. The second rule of business is destroying your competition. Given those realities, I doubt vocational training as a sector of public education stands a chance.
