The "guy" in the video is the inventor of the Web. Yes only that...

This wasn't 'warned', this is 'PREDICTED'. This man is spot-on and this is exactly what happened and continues to happen on most forums to this day. I myself a victim of this system, a part of this culture.

Cultural pothole . . . . Bring that phrase back! Never seen any footage of Sir TBL before. He could have been the richest man that ever walked the earth but shared his invention for the benefit of human kind.

In 1997 I worked as an engineer for a small industrial laser manufacturer. One of my colleagues was a very intelligent computer programmer who wrote all our software. He had been using chat rooms from very early on in the eighties and I just couldnā€™t get what it was all about. The thing I remember him saying is that the sort of stuff he was doing online would become completely universal, so much so it would totally change the way the world works, of course I thought he was talking BS. Now that Iā€™ve watched it happen in real time I often reflect on that conversation.

People like that existed well before the internet. Just look at the battles between religious zealots or even political ideas (communism vs capitalism).

The fact that people communicate mainly on the internet, where there is great anonymity, as compared to mainly communicating with people in person. This has unbalanced the world on an incredibly large scale.

ā€œCultural pothole.ā€ What a great term. People now have such strong and rigid beliefs, are constantly putting their toxic ideas on the web and the source of many of their ideas are sometimes totally false and almost always, questionable at best.

Wow all those years ago this was the thin end of the 'let's discredit independent media before we lose control of the narrative' wedge.

Well there is the question of who controls mainstream society and at present it's capitalism which is very alienating.
