Absolutely brilliant at adding depth to meat sauces casseroles and stews. I always add some to my chilli con carne. Secret weapon for replacing professional kitchen brown sauce and demi glace. Also great melted onto roast potatoes a la pommes parisienne

Yeah you can’t go wrong with that. Especially really crusty hot toast, the melted butter and the bovril or marmite has this umami plus creamy with the crunch of the toast…..😮❤

Here in South Africa I was raised with Bovril lightly smeared in between a cookie called Marie Biscuits (a flat buttery cookie with simple flavour and sweetness). It is heaven to me, although I've had other South Africans think it's gross, but they have their quirks too haha. Try it with white bread and some butter, school lunch classic.

Bovril used to be better but because of the Sinophobic panic over MSG, they removed that ingredient to appease people who don't know what it is.
You have to give it another go, it's much more delicious with that MSG.
