I think K8s operators are really nice, especially from the point of view of developing one. If you go the easy route with Go, there's a lot which can help you create the kind of abstractions you might need in your clusters. In combination with custom resources and the built-in controllers/resources, you can effectively make use of a powerful state-driven framework and drive the desired state. It doesn't come for free though, you need people who will undertake this task and manage the operator and its custom resources.

I thought operators were tasks done in response to an event didn’t know it was extending crds and controllers.

Thanks, always wondered if I was breaking a "best practice" by wanting to do that - what's the best way? OpenApi: kubectl get --raw /openapi/v2 and create a proxy to the API?
