Im a chef and I have family from Syria so I knew about mate, but I've still haven't tried it. I'm a coffee junkie so I'm assuming I'd like it a lot.

Hi, I stumbled over your channel about a year ago. And after 3 month seeing nearly all your shorts, I decided to give it a try, because I wanted to try it out and maybe replace coffee with mate.
Thankfully there is a online shop here in germany, selling mate.
It was a great decision, I am way more balanced and I way more energized.

I think that it would be great for people that don’t know too much about mate and they visit a mate drinking country and buy one that is made of calabaça if you taught them how to cure it so you can have the best result out of it! I'm... a little less excited, given that weak defense (as someone who's acquired a lot of unusual tastes, I wouldn't use "it's not going to be the best thing you've ever had" as a preface; I'd talk about what's good about it once you get used to it), but I am still interested. Bitterness is often something I gravitate towards, since good bitterness has so much charm to it and is so hard to come by.
However, I do have to ask, is there a good way for beginners to get a feel for it without buying a gourd and specialized straw we might never use again if we don't like it?
