Sales Force sells a mostly unnecessarily complicated CRM system. We have it, we use maybe 1% of its features.

I really have no clue what they do. I’ve been inside their building (it’s very pretty) I’ve seen it soaring amongst all the other buildings in SF, and I just dont know what they do. It’s seems like they just have a bunch of acronyms like CRM, SFE, TaaWE, UTL, REF, and then market those acronyms as products. Like at this point, I feel like it’s a glorified version of Wordpress combined with Excel, but less pretty and more counterintuitive.

Salesforce started as a CRM meant to solve the problem of overly complex CRM's of the time.
They literally became just that. Queue a bright young newcomer to make a sinplified product to start the cycle anew.

I remember like 5 years ago when Salesforce was trying to sell my then-employer on their product. The pitch was just a perfect buzzword bingo card. “AI!” “Blockchain!” “Machine Learning!”
They obviously did not deliver on any of the fluff they sold in that meeting.

Salesforce does a lot. It’s primarily built as a sales tool for tracking contacts, opportunities and so on. But it has a robust programming backend with Apex that allows you to build custom features. A summer camp I worked at used it for registrations. But it’s also bloated as all heck and less than intuitive to use. But due to its versatility, it’s still a major player in the space, but they’ve nearly maxed their market reach potential so their growth will likely stagnate more

My companies flooded a ton of money into workforce. All it got us is a website that allows us to catalog information about inspections. Start/stop, log numbers, etc. And it almost constantly breaks. I'm convinced most that money was supposed to be our bonuses for the past 2 years...
