For the pumpkin seeds, you'll need to wash them, let them dry, then lightly roast them on a pan or in an oven just until dry and cooked, not browned. Don't forget to peel the white outer layer before eating though, you wouldn't want to eat that Pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds are popular traditional snack where I'm from. People love to eat them while they're bored or having tea time talking with others

About the peel, what about the pesticides on it? When a recipe calls for zest, it always specify to get untreated fruits

I love these clips about foods because they remind me of my childhood. I grew up on a farm in Eastern Europe. I still remember my grandma using most of what was there to eat, plant or animal. I noticed the same when I lived in Asia until recently. Now I'm back home and I miss those dishes. Not all but quite a few.

Freeze drying and turning all of that into flavor packed powders has made for some nutritious and delicious concoctions around my kitchen!

Be aware that citrus allergy is a thing. If you feel slimey in your throat and start coughing shortly after eating some citrus (orange, tangerine, lemons, etc) you are probably allergic and should stop eating those. Also the oils in citrus peels can cause itchiness as a contact allergy :] (source: I am allergic to citrus)

Oranges are sprayed with fluoride based insecticides and pesticides. They are picked green and then sprayed with natural gas petroleum based sourced ethylene gas, to ripen and turn the oranges that bright orange color. Ethylene gas is also used in welding.

Dr Karan, this is a great low waste video. With regards to the orange peel, you need to remove the wax on citric fruits like orange, lemon and limes. This video might need an update.

You can actually turn orange peels into delicious candied peels. Look into recipes for it, and replace the sugar with xylitol to make it better for you (also xylitol is good for your teeth, randomly). If you use xylitol, it will strait up taste like orange candy, despite it having no sugar and being quite healthy.

I've been always told to carefully remove the skin from all the vegetables and fruits because it contains all the pesticides and a dirt

I love saving the skins of alliums to put into my stocks. It really does lend lots of extra flavor.

I canā€™t eat oranges. And with this opportunity I would really appreciate if youā€™ll do a video about weird allergies. Im allergic to a high variety of fruits (citrus fruits, apples, peaches, pomegranateā€¦.) Sometimes I eat a fruit and feel fine, and sometimes I get an allergic reaction. Sometimes itā€™s related to how sour the fruit was and sometimes itā€™s not. My allergies started appearing when I was 12 and every year I learn about a new one. Why? And why no doctor could give me a sufficient answer

Dr Karan, if I grind the seeds and mix it with yogurt or soup will it still have some of the nutrients? I canā€™t eat seeds anymoreā€¦ Thanks in advance for your attention and consideration.

Itā€™s also why itā€™s best to leave the skin on when making marmalade as itā€™s the pectin that sets after itā€™s been heated and cooled

What about lemon pith? Is that good? Because lemon pith chips are amazing and make things like potato chips seem redundant.

Actually in China we eat the orange peel as snack. Of course it was soaked with sugar, salt, and licorice; then sun dried. Very tangy and yummy. Sweet, sour, and salty. šŸ˜‹
