While I reacted the same way everyone else did to the latest manga chapters, I see a lot of people forgetting older stories. Nami and Brook are very close to as tragic. Brook would hold the title still, but he was at least an adult when he died. He had to spend decades alone at sea on the ship where everyone he cared about died, but at least he had good memories. Anyway, a lot of people don’t think anyone’s back story compares to the latest, but go back and read/watch. There’s some serious competition.
