My sister brought my grandpas old printer to college and it was one of the most useful items she brought. Almost everyone that lived in the dorm building she lived in or (when she moved) her apartment building, would ask to use her printer and she got a lot of use out of it herself as well. She graduated yesterday and I couldn’t be more proud of her.

from a campus tour guide:
- bring a microwave and/or mini fridge. in my experience dining halls tend to have weird hours on weekends, so microwaveable meals are nice. mini fridges can hold those and can keep your energy drinks cold.
- i had a hollow ottoman that had a lid with storage inside to keep snacks in, it was great.
- if your bed is lofted (i recommend, it’s more space) get a tray that can attach to it and get a small fan and long enough charging cords to reach up there for your phone.
- if you have your own shower/bathroom to take care of, a scrub daddy is very nice. keep a shower caddy even if this is the case
- if you like to listen to videos to fall asleep (like ASMR or whatever), you can buy bluetooth sleep headphones that are much more comfy than earbuds.
- bring all the personal items you want. making the space feel like home will reduce homesickness tenfold and it will make your room a more fun environment:)
finally: you will have free time. not a fan of that part of the video. yes, homework is a lot especially for certain majors (STEM) and you will have other activities or even a job, but if you manage time properly you will have time for hobbies :) don’t worry ❤

Adjustments to the list:
1) Everything in the "GET" section is correct. Those are a safe bet and investment.
2) Get a handheld or small vacuum (a swiffer can't clean the gaps in your couch)
3) Get bed covers, depending on your dorm or a furnished apartments, you can also find some affordable bed frames.
4) Get a microwave (or at least a water heater) especially if you aren't in a dorm.
5) You will have free time in college only if you time manage properly (if done right, even as a STEM major, you can have half your weekends free and an hour or two a day)
6) A secret tip? Have at least 2 water cases at all times. Literally a life-hack if water cuts out or the stores run out of water cases (which they will in a college town/city)

To clarify, you should get something to clean your floors! But something like a Swiffer or a broom, not a bulky vacuum. (Someone in the comments also recommended a handheld vacuum, which could also work!) Also, here’s the list! nextadmit.com/gohar
