Instead of taking a white character and putting a black girl actor in there and calling it diversity; let's create an original black Disney princess success story with a black girl as the actor, for black people and kids to enjoy.

In that case, the princess and the frog girl should be a little white girl according to your logic. Let’s see how well that goes over…

this is completely wrong. People are mad because the Disney Mermaid names Ariel that they have ALWAYS known to be of a whiter skins complexion with red hair, is now being changed to a darker complexion with brown hair. Everyone dislikes how the character that they have ALWAYS known for how it’s looked is now all of a sudden having an appearance change

I'm just not a fan of race changing or gender changing characters in stories. Are people not creative enough to come up with new and original stories where you can make any character you could ever want?

It's not just the little mermaid. Its the whole overhaul of pop culture in recent years. Instead of making new original interesting characters of color, they insist on taking existing characters and changing their pigment or gender. Its lazy and a painfully obvious political movement.

So is it ok if in the next Black Panther movie we have the role played by a white guy? 🤔

Noo.. we hear the screaming about erasure and washing 24/7 but then we are supposed to ignore it the other way around... its not like this is the 100th time in a row or anything.. I don't see any Asians or others being swapped IN, so much for diversity, because it sure the hell isn't for talent. We went through the reboot era, then into the re-reboot, now its the rerereboot era but put a token in..everything. Its not like we have kids seeing this or anything happen. They do not care, they are kids and its good.. the problem is when suddenly being told they can't be in it.. My son was told he could not play with a Finn toy which is his favorite character for god sake, so yeah we are starting to take issue. You look great btw.

"...WHEN THEY ADDED A SINGING CRAB" - that killed me. I hate forced diversity, especially when they're just painting old white characters black, like black folks don't deserve their own original characters. But whatever. It's a Disney remake so very few people care, and the ones that do care will forget about it in a weeks time.

The problem is that when white people are cast as non-whites, there is a huge uproar and sometimes they have to apologize and recast. They even were mad about a white woman being cast as Cleopatra, who was Greek.

I think it’s all about execution. If done properly, the casting won’t matter. I personally am not looking for a black Bruce Wayne/Batman (just an example), but if executed properly, I’d want to see that movie.

The Princess and the Frog should star a white midget with dreadlocks next.

I can't wait for Disney to re-remake Mulan with Mulan being a latino character and Pocahontas as asian. It makes sense, right? Why not?

No, sorry. When Marvel cast a white woman, Tilda Swinton, to play a role “meant for” an Asian actor, the blowback was so fierce the director of Marvel Studios felt compelled to apologize. Those same people that ruthlessly attacked her now demand compliance from everyone when the shoe is on the other foot. It’s either ok every way, or not ok at all. Make a new movie about a new mermaid, cast whomever you like, and people will enjoy it if it’s good.
