Best strawberries I ever had are from Salinas, California. Grown in sandy soil and gets the fog of the ocean, they turn into nature's candy. Last time we were there the girls and I polished of an entire flat of them. Anytime Sam's Club gets them in I buy 4 packs.

The best strawberry you'll have will be one locally grown, ripe, in season. The best I've ever had were in NC or SC.
