Mind-blowing how a black woman was good enough to nurse someone else's child but couldn't use the front door

Two things can be true. The people who came before me can have had it harder than I do (hell, there are people existing now that have it way harder than I do), and I can also be going through a hard time in my life. Perspective is good. But just because someone else is dealing with more than you doesn't make your feelings and experiences any less valid.

YES SIR! You just reminded me NOT to complain. I have seen too many who have had it worst and struggled for me to have a better life. I Wonā€™t Complain. AMEN! ā¤šŸ˜Š

ā€œAnd Iā€™m going to tell my grandmother what Iā€™m going through somethingā€ that was powerful. A powerful reminder of how little people can endure today. What our grandparents went through - most people today wouldnā€™t have made it through.

Perspective is wonderful, but an no persons struggle automatically invalidates anotherā€™s. This is the exact mentality that keeps people from admitting they need help.

As a predominately Cherokee person myself, i find it so laughable when people say that racism "isnt as bad" or simply "doesn't exist anymore" , as if there aren't people still alive RIGHT NOW who were disrespecting and terrorizing POC not even 40-50 yrs ago. I spoke to a coworker TODAY, who said "the way i was raised, people of different races shouldn't mix", TODAY. She's not even middle aged and that's how she was raised, c'mon now

Thanks for the reminder of why history is sooo important. And current events-it does put so much in perspective

My bff, is traveling hair stylist with a predominantly white clientele in NY. In 2022, She told me that one particular customer made her use the service elevator and didn't even greet her when she got there. My friend was 34 at the time. I was floored! I would've canceled and left.

Just finished a fiction book on this topic ā€œYellow Lotus by Lalia Ibrahimā€. Very insightful and set in the South. The main character is a black wet nurse for the rich white families children. Would definitely recommend this book.

This thought can also be harmful. The key is processing thoughts and emotions. Not comparing your issues or life to others and pretending like everything is okay.

For real. People really donā€™t realize how far weā€™ve come.

This is why I say, everyone has black in them. They just have a short memory. Plus, he's right. With the stuff that our ancestors went through to make our lives easier. We can not complain about anything.
