Two things can be true. The people who came before me can have had it harder than I do (hell, there are people existing now that have it way harder than I do), and I can also be going through a hard time in my life. Perspective is good. But just because someone else is dealing with more than you doesn't make your feelings and experiences any less valid.

As a predominately Cherokee person myself, i find it so laughable when people say that racism "isnt as bad" or simply "doesn't exist anymore" , as if there aren't people still alive RIGHT NOW who were disrespecting and terrorizing POC not even 40-50 yrs ago. I spoke to a coworker TODAY, who said "the way i was raised, people of different races shouldn't mix", TODAY. She's not even middle aged and that's how she was raised, c'mon now

Just finished a fiction book on this topic āYellow Lotus by Lalia Ibrahimā. Very insightful and set in the South. The main character is a black wet nurse for the rich white families children. Would definitely recommend this book.
