Before the band's name became an Adam Levine's pop persona moniker/solo project, Maroon 5 were a legit amazing band throughout the entire 2000s by delivering some of my favourite mainstream music of that decade and it's coming from someone who likes a fair amount of 2010s songs from Adam Levine AKA Maroon 5. But yeah, I don't expect anything from him currently top the trilogy of albums "Songs About Jane", "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" and "Hands All Over" or even two 90s albums from when they were named Kara's Flowers anytime soon.

I've been thinking for a while, if they hadn't completely given up artistically, relying on everybody but themselves for songwriting, and keeping that classic Rock / Funk / Soul etc. sound, could they have become a household ROCK band along the lines of RHCP? A band who definitely is Rock, but at the same time have all these other elements, making it hard to put them in one specific sub-genre pool, they way you'd put Metallica in Metal and Blink in Pop-Punk? 👀

Whenever I'm in the car with my mom and we hear a Maroon 5 song, she doesn't say "That's a Maroon 5 song", she says "That's an Adam Levine song". A lot of people forget that Maroon 5 is a band.
