ā€œItā€™s cheaper than typical bus sheltersā€ BECAUSE ITS NOT A SHELTER!

LA making anti-homeless parking spaces and making it about identity politics is such an LA move

Have to agree with the critics on this one. Just build an actual bus stop

I wouldnā€™t doubt it was to discourage the homeless

They literally couldn't have wasted time, money, and public respect more efficiently.

It's frankly insulting to use gender and race as scapegoats for this joke of a bus shelter. If i was walking past it i would think it's some public art piece.

So a bus shelter that doesn't provide shelter from rain... neat!!!

Austin replaced traditional shelters with a larger version of this. Little to no shade during one of our many 100+ degree days is wonderful.

This is like giving someone a book as an umbrella.

I have acute back pain that forces me to sit for a few minutes after every 10 minutes of standing/walking. Whenever cities remove public seating under whatever manner of excuse, they make it more painful for me to be there.

That's a bus stop? I could never tell.

The idea was to eliminate seating. It's a stab at unhoused people more than anything.

Iā€™m in Japan (Yokohama), and my closest bus stop (250 feet from my door) doesnā€™t have any structure or shade or lights or anything, but you donā€™t have to really wait much since thereā€™s a bus every 5 minutes during the commute rush, and maybe once every 10 minutes for the rest of the day.

Here in korea, we got full on shelters, protects from rain, got benches and led panels to let you know when the next bus is comming. Some stops have an air-conditioned room during summer and heated room during winter

I guess if you climb to the top of it you could sit on that small bench they put a solar panel on.

They'll do anything but actually give us what we need and that's an actual bus stop

I know us New Yorkers love to complain about the MTA all the time, but things like this makes me glad that I grew up in the one part of this country with decent sense of urban planning

Omg! Thank you for making this video! We have the same issues in Pennsylvania. Some of our stops are literally JUST off the highway with nothing but a sign! Itā€™s sinful! When I was a kid growing up outside of Pittsburgh our small town (still does) has a wonderful bus system, and we used it. I havenā€™t had to use a bus since college, but every time I pass a inadequate bus stop I just want to cry. Why do make folks who use public transportation out to be monsters?!?
