On Samhain, the Morrigan met with the Dagda and they united before she promised to aid the Tuatha Dé Danann in the Cath Maige Tuired. A year before the battle, the Dagda had arranged to meet the Morrigan near Samhain-time. He found her straddling a river, washing, with her hair hanging in nine sections. One foot was on the south shore and one on the north shore. He talked to her and they joined together, after which the site was called 'The Bed of the Couple'.
