Don't underestimate the length. Some brands think the wider the board the longer it should be. I'm not sure if that's true with transition though. I learned this when I got my first FLIP board, and it was 8.5 width which is what I ride, but a 32.5 length. I could barely do a pop shuvit. Then I got another 8.5 but a 31.5 length I think, and it's way easier to control.

I always get thinner boards because they tend to be more flush with standard trucks making it is easier to stay stable while doing some of Rodney mullen’s famous primo tricks. It’s like 90% harder when your board is wider than your trucks or trucks are wider than your board. Having your trucks flush with your board provides a flat surface for your feet to stand on while the board is perfectly sideways. also makes it easier to learn how to heel flip and kickflip out of primo and is much safer for learning Primo slides.

Soooo many different types of skateboard decks available it's crazy and can be confusing if don't know what you want or are new to the sport. Tons of variables like you mentioned like how deep of a concave, how steep the nose & tail are, width, length, wheelbase, weight, shape, etc. The weight can be from number of things like is it a traditional 7 ply deck or is it something like a VX® or Flight® deck from Powell which are thinner and lighter due to 5 ply plus 2 thin composite layers. Then have boards with coating on bottom side over graphics to help last longer and help slide faster like Santa Cruz Everslick decks .. Also forgot different lengths in the nose or tail section plus shape of each.. Could talk about decks for days..
