Squid sharks had the biggest nerf in Subnautica because they were originally going to be treated as leviathan by the game, spawning in specific locations and not respawning after death and stuff, they were even able to grab your seatruck as seen in the below zero cinematic trailer. Unfortunately they got demoted to just a common enemy they mostly mirrors a worse version of the the crab squid from the first game. Below Zero was intentionally made less scary than the first game to target a younger audience but the scary parts of the first game were the best.
