there were discussions on ASR on hissing noise from smsl ao200, this may be similar issue (speaker inductance)

Heatsink exterior has an anodizing layer(electrically isolated). You need to strip it (scrape, grind, file, etc..) before being able to attach any wire to it.

I have an smsl ao300 that I can reliably make a click sound with due to static buildup while wearing headphones. I opened up the unit and noticed that the AC ground prong isn't even wired up to anything. Would this mod help with the clicking? It feels like the clicking is the result of the unit briefly resetting because the static is discharging through the whole circuit board rather than a ground. Do you have a link to the actual instructions you used? It's hard to see where you attached the wire on the heatsink.
