I had a teacher once, she did not care if you were sleeping in the class, she would just open the slides AND TELL US TO READ IT AND EXPLAIN IT. i kidd you not it took a month to complete 1 CHAPTER WHICH WAS THE FIRST HISTORY CHAPTER. Literally mental

“My class is hard, a lot of students don’t pass” is just the long way of saying “I shouldn’t be a teacher”

If you think about it this is like a nurse saying “Most people don’t live when they come to this hospital”

Just finished my spring semester last week, had the most annoying professor and old school for college algebra and algebra support, she would read off slides, send plain emails, complain that she doesn’t wanna be there and that she needed the money to pay bills, belittle students and if you weren’t her favorite you don’t get to use notes on your exams. I wasn’t her favorite since I didn’t speak a lot. I did most of the learning at home since I understood it better with tutors and videos. Either way I hated that woman! She would also make snide remarks at you and walk off

My psychology professor was absolutely horrible. Her canvas was extremely disorganized and it was abundantly clear that she doesn’t even look at it. On the second day of class, I asked her in the middle of class to clarify about an upcoming essay because her syllabus that she gave us in class said we were going to be doing a personality test and then writing a summary of that as our essay. However, the module on her canvas said something completely different. (I want to say it was an essay about classical conditioning). She looked at me very quizzically and it was kinda awkward having to explain to her like she was 5 what her own canvas page said….then she straight up admitted that the canvas page wasn’t set up by her at all and that she just “took over whoever taught the course previously” (literally, her verbatim words) She constantly yells at us and tells us how “disappointed” she is of some of our test results, and then it turned out that she was confusing our class with another class of hers. Sometimes she’d teach farther ahead in the textbook, sometimes she’d repeat a lesson. Again, all because she mix and matches her classes and couldn’t remember where she’d left off with us. But the nail in the coffin for me was her so called “extra credit”. She offered “extra credit” to incentivize class engagement and old. Discussions. She only offered up to 10 extra credit points, but it was still pretty cool. Or….at least it WOULD be cool if she coded the extra credit points properly in her grade book. Instead of framing it as “10/0 points” for extra credit, she added the denominator so that it would be “10/10” points. In other words, because she added extra credit as part of “total points available” in stead of “total points earned”, canvas didn’t know that “extra credit” was extra credit at all; as far as canvas knows, “extra credit” is just another assignment. So I’m fairly introverted but I don’t mind grabbing some extra credit, especially if I know the answer. I’ve managed to grab 3 extra credit points for the semester. Not bad. But canvas converted that 3/10 as a grade of “30” on an assignment. This alone dropped my grade down to a B for a semester. I was pissed. I had a firm, but polite conversation with the Dean to get this corrected because I no longer trusted the capabilities of this professor.

This basically summarized my experience in my animation course, he'd want us to watch his lecture videos and wouldn't really answer questions just make us go back to the video

I had a teacher so bad that his name was infamous among anyone who had to take calculus 2. If you went to my school, and you took calc 2, you knew who he was if or if not he was your professor. The semester I had him there were 44 students in his class and by the time we took finals there were 8 left. By far the most difficult class I’ve ever taken; he treated that calc 2 course like it was a graduate level course. How do I know this? My grandfather got his PhD in mathematics and was a professor for calc 2 at another university, and I showed him some of the integrals we were doing and he said there was no way he would give his students problems that hard. I was the only student to get an A in his class that semester, and it was absolute hell.

My worst professor so far didn’t fit many of these other than the email. This is what he did consistently, and this is an example from one of the actual lectures: We were covering non-chord tones (I’m a music major), and we were in Chapter 12. While on Chapter 12, he’s drawing something from Chapter 8 on the board, while also explaining something from Chapter 9 that supposedly fit into the lecture, even though he didn’t explain why it was supposed to fit.

One of my high school teachers once asked our class a question. He said, If most of our class has a failing grade, who do you think is at fault: the students or the teacher?' Our class answered, 'the students,' but he said, 'Wrong, it's the teacher.' He explained, 'Think about it, if most of the class fails, that means the teacher didn't teach the class properly, and that's why the class failed. And that really made me appreciate that teacher.

The crazy part is. I had this type of teacher and he was the BEST teacher I've EVER had. He rewarded people for good work by letting them use their phones, talk to other ppl in class (quietly), and he was more lenient and more likely to believe you if you turned in your work. (This was 7th grade. Was a while ago, still the best teacher I've ever had)

I had a professor that didn't do much of a syllabus, didn't use canvas, and never gave us grade updates throughout the semester. Anytime someone asked her for a grade update she said it was our job to keep track of our grade, not hers. She didn't give any work back until the very end of the semester so we went through the whole semester BLIND. She claimed that we should have an idea of where our grades were based on how much effort we put into our assignments. She would always say "you know what you did and didn't do, base your grade off that". I wanted to drop the class so badly but my family wouldn't allow it. When I got all my assignments back at the end of the semester everything was looking like I had earned a C in the class... BUT when I looked at my transcript, the woman gave me a D. I was FURIOUS. Needless to say I retook the class the next semester with a different teacher and I got an A in the class. Fellow college students, if you can help it, DO NOT SETTLE FOR A BAD TEACHER.
