Love, love, love how the columns are now connected to the ground (vs floaters in mid air).

Such impressive changes. From disjointed pieces that look horrible together to an integrated, timeless design of pieces that repeat in pleasing scale and proportion. Pure genius. Love seeing the thinking and before/after.

Love this so much, it's great to see the porch get so much character and harmonize with the original design. Would there be a way to keep the "solarium" and integrate it into the design, or does it break the historic coherency just by existing?

Not quite there yet. I thought you would correct the late faded Queen Anne look. Looks like the client is stuck on a dubious porch detail. 🤔 Hhmmm?

Interesting, I can see that the latter design looks more Victorian, but I think I like the original more with that extra room on there lol. What type did you say those original columns were? To me they look like they could fit with Arts & Crafts designs, which I thought would have some overlap with Victorian styles historically, but that was just my guess as a layperson. Is it more about the proportions?

I have the lower porch railing on my 1863 Victorian and the porch needs a total rebuild…….what about code?
