Great info. I'm not sure that is good news for housing prices for Maderia, but it does leave the door open for me... Maybe?

Interesting - it would be good to see individual local governments looking after their own people and economies - rather than a blanket, one size fits all law. We will be coming back to visit the rest of the island. I must admit it was more crowded than expected in Funchal this month. I checked and the cruise ships moored for this week had over 20,000 passenger capacity. Carnival week but it was more people than we're used to.

Looks like only the Golden Visa (investment) is impacted. The D7 visa (retirement/passive income) is still available
