You can easily extrapolate to blender, I would recommend staying away from Maya at all costs as they are gatekeepers of the industry, Use blender and be free.

I feel bad because because my first thought after seeing your awesome Maya tutorial about import vs reference was "That's so awesome I wonder if Blender has this feature....oh wait so that's what link π means" π€― Your Maya tutorials are helping me become a better Blender artist
