I’m a log and timber guy but I’m pretty sure a chainsaw is the fastest way. 2 cuts and done.

That’s more like “the way to notch a fence post”.

I’ve always found the fastest way to do anything is film it and then replay in fast forward. Was this supposed to be impressive?

This is how you fish for the internet pros to come out and comment how much better they are

I think the most important thing to note is his fluid and precise transition between tools and material without any wasted effort or extra movements. I think speed can not be achieved if one doesn’t understand this fundamental concept.

Guys I love the channel but by far NOT the fastest way that looks like it took forever, use a sawzall with a VICIOUS wood cutting blade to finish out the notches or do like me buy a circular saw with a 8/14 inch blade so you can do 3” notches in one pass, and get a chainsaw with a saw table attached for long rip notches, or a beam saw

Is the way you’re doing it, like the method, the fast part? Or is it the speedy replay lol

Good job! Now it’s only as strong as the piece the left on the notch

Isn't that what everybody does? I don't get it. Using skillsaw then handsaw? Or is it the 45° cut?

If you want to notch it any faster just increase playback speed.
