This is a great way to bring some sutble life to the drums.
I’m using the Pro Q3 here as I can click on the keyboard at the bottom for the correct frequencies in the key.

1. Aligning drum frequencies with the track's key enhances musicality and harmony in the mix.
2. Boosting drum fundamentals reduces frequency clashes, allowing for a more balanced mix.
3. Emphasizing drum fundamentals increases their impact and makes the mix sound louder and more powerful.

i remember when i first heard of Neve consoles. it's so cool what they've done on the EQs, they just picked fixed frequencies that they've carefully studied so when you limit yourself to only cutting and boosting these, it gives the mix such a nice musicality and tone!

I honestly think this kind of things are said to generate controversy and being favoured by YouTube algorithm. So, let's say that the key Am and I boost whichever frequencies A, C, and E are. When the song goes over the chord E (either minor or major) the frequencies of C are going sound bad (according to this theory) because C is an "avoid note" for this mode. And like this there will be others. I'm not an engineer but... I don't know. I'm very skeptical about this stuff. Drums don't work like this or the drummer would have to tune their drums every key change.

Thia trick is right above all for electronic techno and edm music that generally play many bars on the same chord

Wait what? lol.. So you assume the drum's fundamental frequencies have the same fundamentals as the song's key??

Yes! And this can also help you choose between multiple equally good sounding samples.

1. Make music 2. Don't listen to robot minded humans 3. Buying a mixing course from a failed musician won't help your career.

What has key got to do with what key it is? What frequencies you're boosting 🤔

I have never understood how you can pick a single kick and tom tuning that will work with every chord in the progression. Even the key fundamental will clash with the dominant chord. Streaky can you elaborate on this conundrum?

This works until you hit the 3 chord of the key and then you got a #5 note ringing out in the drums…? Maybe I’m just being a hater but this seems unnecessary.

Boosting the root frequency of the track only makes sense if the snare is actually tuned to that frequency to begin with (you should tune the snare to the track but it doesn't have to be to the root, it could be to a fifth or a third), and even then it's entirely context-dependent whether it actually needs boosting more than is already there...

Michael jackson just recorded himself dropping a screwdriver onto a snare drum case.

Or you tune the set in the ball park of the key of the song before you record it. This EQ thing doesn't matter when you have bleed from 12 mics, room mics, overhead etc, it's just gonna sound phasey and weird in the stereo image. But for programmed drums, sure.
